Transparent GIF

This tutorial will show you how to make a transparent GIF using PAINT and the online image converter Iaza.

1. Open/draw your image in an image editor such as Paint.
2. Pick a background color. Your image can not contain this color. I did not use the standard lime green color of Paint in my pixel, so I'll be using that as my background color.
3. Take the fill tool and fill everything you want to be transparent. (If you want, you can crop your image now. I have a tutorial for Paint on this.) Your image should now look like this:

4. Save your image (file -> save as) as a 24-bitmap to save your colors. In Paint, saving as a .gif will usually cause your image to lose colors.

5. Go to Iaza.com (this link will open in a new window).
6. Click on "Load Image" (it's written in capital letters.
7. Upload your image by clicking "browse...", selecting your image, clicking "open" and then clicking on the "Load" button. You will now see your image, with four colums at the bottom of the page. (Convert&Enhance, Edit, Create and Create).
8. Click on "Convert to GIF" in te first column. To make sure your image has been converted to a .gif, check the name below the image. It should be a .gif now.

9. In the fourth colum (Create), click on Transparent.

10. You will now see a page with your image and a "Convert" button below the image. To make your image transparent, first click on the color you want to make transparent (your background). Pick a spot where you are certain you are clicking on your background. Then press the "Convert" button.

11. If right, your image should no longer have a green background. Right click on your image and click on "Save as..." to save your image. Note that the preview on the site could be stretched or shrunken. When saved, your image will be it's original size, so don't worry!
